Emergency services were called to a report that a woman was raped in Hetton, shortly before 9pm on Saturday, September 26.

Northumbria Police has spoken to one man in connection with the incident who remains under investigation.

Inquiries into the alleged sex attack are ongoing.

A force spokesperson said: “We are investigating a report that a woman was raped in Hetton shortly before 9pm on Saturday.

“Officers have spoken to one man in connection with the incident who remains under investigation. Inquiries are ongoing.”

Detectives have confirmed the alleged attack is not linked to any outstanding investigations.

North East Ambulance Service sent one double-crewed ambulance to a ‘medical incident’ where a female patient was treated and discharged at the scene.
