Military medals stolen in Sunderland car break-in

The search is on to find a collection of military medals stolen from a car as it was parked up on a Sunderland street.

The decorations were taken as the car was parked up in Keighley Avenue in the Downhill area in Sunderland.

An appeal by the owner has been shared far on Facebook, with Northumbria Police issuing an appeal after they medals and other items were stolen.

A force spokesperson said: “We can confirm we are investigating a report of theft from a motor vehicle that took place on Keighley Avenue in the Downhill area of Sunderland between 10pm on Tuesday and 5.45am on Wednesday.

"A number of items were stolen from the vehicle including an iPad, clothing and a number of military medals that were of great sentimental value to the owner.

"Inquiries are ongoing but anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting log number 182 08/07/20.”
