Two bodies were found at a property in Satley Gardens, off Essen Way in Tunstall, Northumbria Police confirmed on Wednesday, February 26.

Officers were first called to reports of concern for a woman shortly after 10am on Wednesday and witnesses reported seeing a large police and ambulance presence on the street in the immediate aftermath.

A forensic team was also seen entering the house.

Has anyone been arrested?

No one has been arrested in connection with the two deaths and detectives say it is not believed that there was any third-party involvement.

In a reassuring message to residents, a spokesman for Northumbria Police said: “Officers remain in the area to carry out inquiries and there is no wider threat to the public.”

Northumbria Police received a “report of concern for a woman” inside a house in Satley Gardens, Sunderland, shortly after 10am on Wednesday.

When emergency services arrived at the scene they discovered the bodies of a man and a woman inside the house.

Officers stood guard outside the property where the bodies were discovered. The front door also appeared to be hanging off the hinges.

What do we know about the people who have died?

An investigation is ongoing and, at this time, police are yet to release the names of the man and woman found dead inside the Satley Gardens property.

Northumbria Police has confirmed that the next of kin have been notified.
