Sunderland jewellery shop puts family first this Christmas
A Sunderland jewellery shop is giving colleagues the gift of time with loved ones this Christmas as it decides to close its doors on Boxing Day - for a 107th-year-running.
Beverbrooks, in The Bridges Shopping Centre, will continue the brand’s 107-year-longstanding tradition of giving colleagues an extra day off to spend time with loved ones as a thank you for their dedication and hard work throughout the year.
Colleagues have also been told they will receive an extra week’s salary in December.
Emma Cornwall, regional head of retail at Beaverbrooks Sunderland, said: “Here in Sunderland, the festive season is always a really special time for us, but it’s also one of the busiest periods of the year, alongside launching our new lab grown diamond collection and a handful of new fashion jewellery and watch brands stocked by Beaverbrooks.
“Our team works incredibly hard in the run-up to Christmas to help customers find those perfect gifts.
“The extra day gives everyone the chance to relax, recharge and enjoy some quality time with family and friends.
“Family values are at the heart of Beaverbrooks and it's fantastic to see that reflected in initiatives like this.”
