Chemsdine Talbi sends five-word Instagram message to Sunderland fans after Bournemouth interaction
Chemsdine Talbi has thanked Sunderland fans after they chanted his name while he remained on the bench at Bournemouth
Chemsdine Talbi has thanked Sunderland supporters for their backing as questions continue over his lack of opportunities under Régis Le Bris.
His post came after Sunderland’s 2-0 defeat at Bournemouth, where Talbi remained an unused substitute despite the visitors struggling to threaten. Supporters could again be heard chanting his name as they called for the winger to be introduced. Talbi’s situation has become a growing talking point during Sunderland’s difficult start to the Premier League campaign. He also remained on the bench against Brighton, despite Le Bris’s side chasing the game against ten men.
The 21-year-old scored Sunderland’s winner against Hull City in the Carabao Cup in September, producing a composed finish after a surging run through the middle. However, that contribution has not translated into regular league opportunities. Talbi had been linked with a departure before Sunderland and the player agreed he would stay. He was omitted from the Europa League squad while discussions over his future continued.

Le Bris has since maintained that Talbi can contribute, while highlighting competition for places and the need for further development. Earlier this month, he compared the situation to Tommy Watson’s difficult spell before his promotion-winning Wembley goal.
Talbi’s latest message offered no comment on selection decisions, but acknowledged the support he continues to receive from Sunderland fans during a frustrating period for the winger. The Morocco international posted a photograph of himself applauding fans on his Instagram story, accompanied by the message: “Thank you for the support” and red and white heart emojis.
