The deadline of the competition is August 16, 2021 and the prize for 1st place in each category will be the winning photograph professionally printed. The overall winner will receive a trophy and a photographic session with family or friends in Backhouse Park itself.

The competition was held for the first time last year and proved hugely popular, with hundreds of entries.

It’s part of a wider scheme to improve the park for residents, which has also seen the creation of a Fairy Trail, regular litter picking and planting.

Daniel Krzyszczak, who leads East Rangers in their work in Backhouse Park, had the idea to organise a competition with the aim of bringing families and friends together after a difficult time during lockdown and Covid-19.

Daniel said: “We would love to see everyone come together and spend free time with their loved ones, participating in outdoor activities and enjoying the weather and surroundings. It is wonderful to see residents of all ages using their creativity to capture valuable moments and produce fantastic photographs.”

Councillor Michael Dixon, of St Michael’s ward, said: “I am really pleased that our St Michael’s ward East Rangers, ICOS, have decided to hold another photograph competition in Backhouse Park. The last one they organised was a brilliant success with some really outstanding photographs submitted by

residents.

"I am very hopeful there may be even more entries in the various categories for this latest competition. Well done to Daniel and his team; another example of the positive projects taking place in Backhouse Park.”
