The High Street West venue has been closed due to the coronavirus restrictions but is now set to reopen daily from 10am to 10pm with a range of measures in place to protect guests.

The North East is currently on the second tier of the Government’s three tier virus alert system – which means leisure venues such as casinos are permitted to remain open.

General manager Mark Hunter said the team had been working hard to put enhanced safety and cleaning measures in place across the club: “The health and safety of our customers and team remains our priority,” he said.

“We want to create the best gaming and hospitality experience which guests know and love and a lot of work has gone into ensure we have the highest standards of hygiene and safety measures in place to do so when we reopen.

"We’re looking forward to welcoming customers back to Grosvenor Casino Sunderland.”

Upon entering the venue, customers will be expected to use hand sanitiser which will be readily available at dispensers, whilst enhanced cleaning will take place throughout each day, including tables, chips and machines.

Screens will be in place at all gaming tables and in between electronic machines. There will also be restrictions on the number of people who can play games at any one time.

The firm is continuing to accept cash but is encouraging customers to use contactless payment where possible. There will be safety shields at all tills to protect both team members and customers, and face masks will be offered as an option to wear.

Guests will still be able to enjoy food and drink with dining seating appropriately spaced out and can be pre-ordered at their table or from their machine, either using the online app, or by placing an order with the valet service using the disposable one-use table menus.
