Stadium of Light hints that Elton John could perform in 2022

Earlier this month it was revealed that stadium bosses were in talks with promoters to stage a concert, the first at the home of the Black Cats since the Spice Girls in 2019.
Now, the Stadium of Light Twitter account has tweeted about gigs returning with an image which features an Elton John logo on the pitch as well as a date of June 19, 2022.

Hide AdAfter the date, the tweet reads: “live music is returning to the North East next summer. Don’t miss a beat by signing up to our exclusive mailing list.”
Eagle-eyed fans have already spotted the distinctive E with a star logo and have started speculating on the Rocket Man performing at the stadium.
Elton John’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour is set to be his final ever tour, taking fans on a visual journey through his 50-year career.
Global superstar Sir Elton has had hit after hit over the years, including Rocket Man, I’m Still Standing, Candle In The Wind, Don’t Go Breaking My Heart, Can You Feel The Love Tonight and many more.

The stadium gigs are a huge boost to the city, attracting national media attention, and bringing in an estimated £3.5million in visitor spending to the local economy.
