5. Elf Delivery service, across Sunderland
Like so many involved in the arts and culture sector, dancer Jennifer Foulds, 27, has lost her entire source of income due to the pandemic. However, she’s come up with a way to utilise her performance skills, while also helping to provide some Christmas sparkle for families. During lockdown, she set up events company Evoke Entertainment and has started an Elf Delivery service, which is available in her home city of Sunderland, as well as further afield. 6. Zoom call from Santa
Charity Red Sky Foundation are doing zoom calls from Santa to poorly children at Newcastle's Freeman Hospital. However, the Foundation is also offering this opportunity to other families at a small cost, with a proportion of the money going directly to the charity. 7. Alice in Wonderland, Carnival House, Southwick, December 21
West End performers will be staging Alice in Wonderland - down the Rabbit Hole at this new arts venue in Southwick on December 21. Whilst staying true to the well-loved Alice in Wonderland story, Alice's zany journey of discovery has a modern twist and sees her learning the value of kindness and acceptance of others. 8. Mother Goose, Nissan, December 15-24
Bella Bluebell, an international drag queen and entertainer, will be taking the role of Mother Goose and Melissa Cavanagh from Sunderland, who appeared on BBC's The Voice in Boy George’s team, will be playing the villain queen Virus in Mother Goose at Nissan - one of the only pantos in the area going ahead this year.
