With both cup and league action taking place this weekend, there were a number of successes across the area – and some shock results along the way. 5. 16 - Ryton and Crawcrook Albion
From third down to sixteenth for Tony Fawcett’s men – although that can be put down to Albion not having a game over the last seven days. They return to action in midweek with an Ernest Armstrong Memorial Cup tie against Birtley Town. Photo: Other
6. 15 - Redcar
The Green Lane outfit slide in the rankings after suffering a 2-1 defeat in their FA Vase First Qualifying Round tie at AFC Blackpool. The loss of top goalscorer Adam Preston to Division One Thornaby will have been a further blow this week. Photo: Other
7. 14 - Gateshead
Another new club moved into the top 20 as Mike Williamson’s men reap the benefits of an impressive draw at National League North title favourites York City and Saturday’s first home win of the season against Brackley Town. Photo: Mike Hewitt
8. 13 - Sunderland West End FC
The history makers move up in the rankings! Anthony Nelson’s men were celebrating on Saturday night as they marked their first ever appearance in the FA Vase with a 2-1 win at Garstang thanks to goals from Daniel Martin and Kieron Martin. Photo: Kevin Brady
