Our resident non-league expert Mark Carruthers has delivered his power rankings after another hectic weekend of football across the region, which saw some sides continue their strong starts to the season while others struggle for form. Scroll down and click through the pages to see how he has ranked the non-league sides in the area – and his verdict on their performances so far:
13. HEBBURN TOWN (NORTHERN LEAGUE DIVISION ONE)
The Hornets have been heavily tipped as Northern League champions this season and currently sit top of the Division One table after a late Graeme Armstrong goal gave them a hard-earned 2-1 win at Bishop Auckland in midweek. And the veteran striker made it 12 goals in seven games so far this season to earn his side an FA Cup Preliminary Round replay against BetVictor NPL North West side Pontefract Collieries. 14. DARLINGTON (NATIONAL LEAGUE NORTH)
Quakers boss Alun Armstrong seems to be getting to grips with a much-changed squad in his first season in charge of the club. They currently sit in mid-table in the National League North after they secured an impressive win against Southport and followed that up by snatching a late draw at Altrincham on Saturday. 15. WHITLEY BAY (NORTHERN LEAGUE DIVISION ONE)
It has been a challenging start to the season for the four-time FA Vase winners. But they flickered into life this week as James Proctor and Nathan Stephenson scored in the 2-1 win at Ashington in midweek and they earned a credible 1-1 draw at Consett on Saturday thanks to a strike from Adam Shanks. 16. JARROW (NORTHERN LEAGUE DIV TWO)
Dave Bell’s side have reacted well since they were thrashed at home by Washington on the second weekend of the season. And they made it four games unbeaten since that reverse this week with a 1-1 draw against Tow Law Town and Saturday’s 4-1 home win against Sunderland West End. That form has moved Jarrow into the top six of the Division Two table. Photo: JPIMedia
