Our resident non-league expert Mark Carruthers has delivered his power rankings after another hectic weekend of football across the region, which saw some sides continue their strong starts to the season while others struggle for form. Scroll down and click through the pages to see how he has ranked the non-league sides in the area – and his verdict on their performances so far:
9. WILLINGTON (NORTHERN LEAGUE DIVISION TWO)
The Hall Lane outfit went into the last week on the back of consecutive away defeats against in-form sides Redcar Athletic and West Allotment Celtic. But Ibby Hassan’s side got themselves back on track and moved back into the top four with a pair of 2-1 home wins against Birtley Town and Brandon United. Photo: Other
10. REDCAR ATHLETIC (NORTHERN LEAGUE DIVISION TWO)
Redcar Athletic enjoyed an eye-catching summer in the transfer market ahead of their second season as a Northern League club. And their form has matched the hype created by their business as they currently sit in third place in the Division Two table after a 2-1 home win against Durham City and an impressive 3-0 win at Chester-le-Street Town on Saturday. 11. MORPETH TOWN (BETVICTOR NPL PREMIER DIVISION)
The Highwaymen have endured a very challenging week but came through it with flying colours. Last-gasp goals from Joe Walton and Liam Henderson helped Nicky Gray’s side overturn a 2-1 deficit to secure a dramatic three points against Lancaster City on Tuesday. And Henderson was on target again on Saturday as the Highwaymen battled to a 2-2 draw at old foes Brighouse Town in the FA Cup Photo: Other
12. DUNSTON UTS (BET VICTOR NPL NORTH WEST DIVISION)
The reigning Northern League champions have eased into life in the Northern Premier League. Luke Page grabbed the only goal of the game to give Dunston their first win as a step four club when Ossett United were dispatched in midweek and goals from Michael Pearson and Mark Fitzpatrick earned them a second crack at Goole in the FA Cup Preliminary Round on Saturday.
