And yet it has been a bumpy campaign so far, with a youthful group showing a fair amount of inconsistency and with Tony Mowbray departing the club in early December.
With the season just passing the halfway stage, we’ve reviewed the progress of each player to make a Championship appearance so far...

While the debate over his position can still rumble on at times, there’s no doubt he’s brought a lot to the side with his willingness and bravery to play out from the back and in dangerous areas. B+ Photo: Frank Reid

6. JENSON SEELT
Took some time to work his way into the side but has been performing with a pleasing level of consistency of late. Comfortable on the ball and also genuinely excellent in the air, which should set him up for a strong Championship career. C+ Photo: Frank Reid

7. NECTAR TRIANTIS
Hasn’t found it easy to get into the side but played a key part in the 3-1 win over Birmingham City when both Luke O’Nien and Dan Ballard were suspended, which was an important step in his development. C- Photo: Frank Reid

8. TRAI HUME
Hume has picked up from where he left off last season, and there arguably isn’t a better defender in 1-v-1 situations in the league. Remarkable how he keeps churning out consistent performances at his young age, especially as he is now a regular at international level. An unbelievable find from head of recruitment Stuart Harvey.
