Since returning to the Championship they’ve overcome some major injury issues to reach the World Cup in a decent position, one which they’ll hope to improve in the weeks ahead.
So who has impressed so far and who has work to do? Here, we’ve collated our player ratings from the season so far and calculated each player’s average to find out.
To ensure a fair overview we’ve only included players with at least four appearances.
Tony Mowbray will hope that Dan Ballard has a big part to play after the break following his impressive but limited early showings, while Niall Huggins also underlined his potential in the win over Birmingham City in what was his first game for over a year.
He believes that will leave his side with the depth he needs to make a real impact at the level…

13. JACK CLARKE - 6.3
Given his superb goals and assists tally, Clarke has probably been a bit harshly judged in our ratings. That does reflect the fact that his output has slowed up a touch in recent weeks, with teams increasingly doubling up on him in a mark of respect. It's also a reflection of the fact that he's been almost ever-present this season, which is a major positive and also brings some inevitable ups and downs in performances. A player now very much back on the rise, and key to Mowbray’s plans. Has been very good. Photo: FRANK REID

14. LUKE O'NIEN - 6.3
Has looked far more comfortable since moving back into the right side of defence and has been a valuable player ever since injuries forced that switch. Another who faces significant competition for places after the break. Photo: FRANK REID

15. ALEX PRITCHARD - 6.7
Started the season in superb form and more than proved that he is still a player capable of thriving at this level. Has found the going a little tougher with no strikers to play off and around, but has still made some important contributions. Photo: FRANK REID 2022

16. DAN NEIL - 6.4
A first campaign at Championship level has been something of a roller coaster so far, with a couple of high-profile errors set against a key role in some glorious team goals. His physicality has improved significantly from last season and he’s a talent making progress. Photo: Frank Reid
