The Black Cats will be looking to make new additions ahead of next season, while some players are set to leave the club before the start of the next campaign.
We’ve taken a closer look at every Sunderland player’s situation – including the players who are out on loan - and what to expect this summer.
21. Abdoullah Ba
Still only 19, Ba has shown he can contribute at first-team level and scored his first Sunderland goal against Norwich. The midfielder signed a five-year deal on Wearside in the summer and has plenty of time to improve. Photo: Frank Reid
22. Alex Pritchard
While Pritchard is under contract at Sunderland for next season, after a one-year extension was triggered in his deal, there has been reported interest from other Championship clubs. The 29-year-old has also seen his game time reduced following recent injury setbacks and may have options to consider this summer. Photo: Frank Reid
23. Jack Clarke
The 21-year-old has started 36 of Sunderland’s 38 league games this season and will be hoping to keep improving on Wearside after his move to Tottenham didn’t work out a few years ago. Clarke signed a four-year deal with the Black Cats in the summer. Photo: Martin Swinney
24. Patrick Roberts
Following multiple disappointing loan spells, Roberts appears to be enjoying his football again after signing a two-year deal at Sunderland last summer. The 26-year-old has made 34 Championship appearances this season. Photo: Martin Swinney
