West Ham keen on Sunderland first team star as Black Cats winger eyed for continental transfer - round-up

A look at the latest Sunderland-related transfer news and speculation...

On Tuesday evening, Dennis Cirkin confirmed that he is set to leave Sunderland upon the expiration of his contract this summer. With the transfer window right around the corner and plenty of movement expected, the full-back may not be the only player departing the Stadium of Light over the coming weeks.

Indeed, in recent days reports have emerged suggesting that Eliezer Mayenda could seek a fresh challenge elsewhere ahead of the new season amid ongoing concerns about his first team minutes on Wearside. To that end, online outlet Football Insider claim that newly relegated West Ham are monitoring the Spanish youth international, with the Hammers said to be long-term admirers of the striker.

Whether Mayenda would be tempted to make the drop back down to the Championship remains to be seen, however. According to this latest update, there is an understanding that if he is to leave Sunderland this summer, he could yet secure himself a move to a top European league. As such, West Ham’s potential pursuit of the 21-year-old is deemed “difficult”.

Romaine Mundle garnering interest

Elsewhere, Sunderland winger Romaine Mundle is reportedly attracting interest from France. As per Foot Mercato, Toulouse are keen on the attacker, and have already had an initial approach for his services rebuffed by the Black Cats.

The expectation is that the Ligue 1 outfit will return with a renewed attempt to prise Mundle away from the Stadium of Light in the coming days, but they could be set to face competition from RC Strasbourg, who are also said to be keeping tabs on 23-year-old.

For his part, Mundle endured an injury-hit debut campaign in the Premier League, and was consequently limited to just 14 top flight outings, with a dozen of those coming from the bench. His most recent Sunderland appearance came during the 3-1 defeat to Fulham back in February.

Hull City eye Sunderland-linked midfielder

And finally, Hull City are understood to be eyeing a £10 million swoop for Sunderland-linked midfielder Yacine Titraoui, according to the Daily Mail. The 22-year-old is currently on the books at Royal Charleroi, and has also been touted as a target for Leeds United and Marseille.

In recent days, however, Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna has sought to play down speculation linking him with a move to Wearside.
