Sunderland starlet backed to improve during non-league loan spell
Sunderland youngster Jaydon Jones joined National League North club Hebburn Town on loan earlier this month.
Sunderland youngster Jaydon Jones has already made a positive impression during the early stages of his loan spell with National League North neighbours Hebburn Town.
The 19-year-old midfielder signed his first professional contract with the Black Cats last summer after becoming a regular in Under-18s and Under-21s sides in recent seasons. His progression has been further rewarded with spells training alongside Regis Le Bris’ first team squad and he was an unused substitute for a 1-0 home defeat against Brighton and Hove Albion in March after being named in a senior squad for the first time in a Carabao Cup loss against Huddersfield Town during the opening fortnight of last season.
Jones is now earning his first experience of senior football with Hebburn as the Black Cats relationship with the National League North newcomers continues to flourish. Academy of Light products such as Isaac Allan, Jake Waters, Dan Cameron and Adam Richardson have all spent time on loan at the Trustmark Group Stadium - and Jones joined that growing list earlier this month before making his first senior appearances as a substitute in defeats against Scarborough Athletic and Oxford City.

The youngster will now hope to have done enough to earn a first start for the Hornets when Daniel Moore’s side look to avoid a third consecutive defeat at AFC Telford United on Saturday afternoon. The Hebburn boss believes Jones possesses all of the qualities he likes to see from his midfielders and insisted the Black Cats prospect will improve during his initial month-long loan spell with his club.
‘He will only get better during his time with us’

Speaking ahead of the visit to the New Bucks Head, Moore said: “Jaydon has done really well since he’s come in. He’s got really good energy, he fits the mould for us as a club and I think he will only get better during his time with us. He has all of the attributes we like, he gets around the pitch, he’s positive on the ball, his first intention is to move forward and he came on early last Saturday and did really well. He will probably be disappointed he didn’t get a goal but I think he’s only going to learn and improve being around the lads and I think this weekend will do him good because we are going away on the Friday. We’ve got two other new lads coming in so the squad will be freshened up and it shows that the other clubs in the North East trust us with their young players.”
Jones will be joined in the Hornets squad by Newcastle United goalkeeper Aidan Harris and Hartlepool United youngster Campbell Darcy after they joined Hebburn on loan earlier this week.
