Reports claim Crystal Palace, Fulham and Bournemouth want Régis Le Bris as Sunderland prepare contract talks
Sunderland are preparing to open talks with head coach Régis Le Bris over improved terms as the club looks to secure his long-term future amid growing attention from elsewhere, according to a report from TEAMtalk.
Le Bris arrived at the Stadium of Light in the summer of 2024 after leaving Lorient and initially signed a three-year contract running to 2027. TEAMtalk reports that Sunderland are now considering a new package to reflect the significant impact he has made since arriving on Wearside, with promotion secured in his first season via the Championship play-offs and the club now competing at the top end of the Premier League table rather than fighting survival battles.
However, the original report did not reference that Le Bris has already signed an extended deal with Sunderland, having agreed fresh terms in August 2025 to extend his contract until the summer of 2028 following promotion. Even so, TEAMtalk claims that Le Bris’ success has placed him on the radar of several clubs across Europe, with Premier League sides Crystal Palace, Fulham and Bournemouth all understood to be watching developments ahead of potential managerial changes. All three are reported to have coaches out of contract at the end of the season.

The report adds that Sunderland are relaxed about the situation, with Le Bris said to be content in the North East and appreciative of the backing received from the hierarchy. TEAMtalk states he would be open to further talks should the club move to reward his progress. Sunderland’s ownership have repeatedly stressed their commitment to long-term planning and growth, and protecting their head coach would be seen as central to that strategy as the club continues to establish itself back in the Premier League.
After extending his contract, Le Bris said last summer: “The connection I have with the staff, players, and supporters has been natural, and we shared many great moments together. The collective ambition is there to see, and now, there is a desire to become stronger. I can feel the energy and intent to push forward, and we need that in the next challenges we will face. In every part of the organisation, everyone has their own part to play, and we are all aligned.”
Kristjaan Speakman added: “Like every Sunderland supporter, I’m delighted we are announcing this contract extension for Régis. It provides clarity going into the Premier League season, but more importantly, it recognises his contribution and continued commitment to the Club. Régis has an unrelenting desire for progression that matches our own, and we look forward to continuing our partnership throughout the upcoming season, as we move forward with aligned objectives that reflect our shared ambition.”
Director of Football, Florent Ghisolfi, concluded: “Regis’ new contract is a mark of recognition for the outstanding work he’s undertaken since arriving at Sunderland, and more importantly, it reflects our trust in the future we’re building together. Our objective is to establish Sunderland as a Premier League Club – not just in name, but in identity, performance, and ambition – and Regis is an important part of that vision. He shares our desire, and we are ready to face the challenges and opportunities ahead with conviction and purpose.”
