Which players make it into Sunderland’s greatest ever Premier League era starting XI? It’s a big question, and one that we here at The Echo have been asking you over the past few days.
From towering goalkeepers to tough-tackling defenders to red hot centre-forwards, we’ve been running polls asking you to vote on which names are deserving of a nod in the Black Cats’ most impressive top flight team, and you’ve told us in your droves.
With that in mind, and with all numbers properly tallied up, here is Sunderland’s best Premier League XI, as decided by you, the fans...

1. GK: Thomas Sorensen
The Great Dane arrived on the cheap from his home country, and went on to establish himself as a real cult hero on Wearside as Sunderland twice finished seventh in the Premier League. | Getty

2. RB: Phil Bardsley
Solid, reliable, and hard as nails, Bardsley was everything you could hope for in a full-back. Not the most spectacular name in this XI, but one of the most dependable. | Getty Images Photo: Michael Regan

3. CB: Steve Bould
A Premier League legend who undoubtedly did his best work in an Arsenal shirt, Sunderland were still fortunate enough to squeeze a little extra quality and guile out of him in the latter stages of his career. | Getty Images Photo: Alex Livesey

4. CB: Younes Kaboul
After a relatively slow start on Wearside, Kaboul went on to prove himself to be a hugely important presence at the back during his time at the Stadium of Light - it's just a shame he didn't stick around for longer. | Getty Images
