Sunderland reached the 40-point mark on Tuesday night as they landed a famous win at Elland Road.
An injury-hit squad spent much of the game defending their own box but Habib Diarra’s second-half penalty proved to the difference between the two teams.
Here’s how we rated all of the Black Cats involved on the night...

1. GK - Melker Ellborg
Was very well protected by his centre backs but was tidy in possession and made consistently good interventions from set plays. Didn’t get near Stach’s free kick for the offside goal but it was a wicked delivery. A really solid debut in tough circumstances. 8 | Getty Images

2. RB - Luke O'Nien
Appeared to be fortunate to avoid giving away a penalty in the first half when he brought Struijk to the ground from a corner, but otherwise delivered a really strong defensive display. Particularly good in the second half when he shut down his flank. 7 | Chris Fryatt

3. CB - Dan Ballard
One or two rare misjudgments from long balls forward but having dominated at the Stadium of Light, Dominic Calvert-Lewin had little say in this one. Ballard was very strong and made some huge late interventions. 8 | Getty Images

4. CB - Omar Alderete
Absolutely immense. Back to his best, making countless vital defensive interventions throughout the game and especially in the latter stages. Crucial to the win. 9 | Sunderland's Omar Alderete. Photo by Chris Fryatt.
