Sunderland were back in Premier League action when they faced Liverpool at the Stadium of Light on Wednesday night.
The Black Cats saw their proud unbeaten home record come to an end after a Habib Diarra own goal in the second half. Here’s how we rated all of the players involved on the night..
9. RW - Trai Hume
Went close with a couple of decent efforts and looked after the ball well. Solid defensively before being brought off with ten to play as Sunderland chased an equaliser. 6 | Getty Images Photo: Getty Images
10. LW - Nilson Angulo
Can be pleased with a steady full debut in red and white. Showed good skill and quality at times and was dependable in his defence work. Solid start. 6 | Chris Fryatt
11. CF - Brian Brobbey
Worked hard and had some dangerous moments, but you have to credit Ibrahim Konate for a very good performance against him. Did look to have a big claim for a penalty waved away just before half time. 6 Photo: George Wood
12. Sub - Chemsdine Talbi
One or two strong breaks forward but didn’t threaten Liverpool much. 5 | Matt McNulty/Getty Images
