Nordi Mukiele issues strong message to Sunderland dressing room in revealing post-match interview
Sunderland are 19th in the Premier League after a defeat to Bournemouth on Sunday
Nordi Mukiele called on Sunderland to get back to basics after dropping further into the Premier League relegation zone with a 2-0 defeat to Brighton on Sunday afternoon.
Mukiele said he felt the team had become 'arrogant' after their seventh-placed finish last season and says they need to recapture the mentality that brought them so much success. It was another afternoon in which defensive errors undid the Black Cats, but aside from the 5-3 defeat to Man City they have also struggled to score regularly.
"If I have to be honest with you, we are not good," he told Sky Sports.
"We are not good enough. If we deserve to be where we are today, yeah, definitely. Why? I don't know. Maybe because we became arrogant, maybe. This is what I think. We struggle everywhere, to be honest. We don't score enough, we concede so much. If I have to compare the last season, we didn't concede as much as we did last season. So I don't want to say it's attack or offence or defence, it's all of us. We are not good to all the parts.

"We have to be back in our basics, how we were last season," he added.
"Maybe we should stop to watch back what we did the last season because now is a new season and everyone is better and we have to be better because if you are not in the level in this league, you will just stay where we are actually and I don't think Sunderland deserves it, the fans and the city.
“So we have to do better. We have to work and we have to be much professional and be at the level every weekend. I don't like this position, I hate this position. So I will not be good, I will not sleep well because I don't like to lose anyways and I don't like to be in this position where we are and we just have to fight, all of us, from up and down. We have to fight and to try to find the solution to be out of this position."
Sunderland face Lech Poznan in the Europa League on Thursday before Leeds United visit the Stadium of Light next Sunday.
