Sunderland signed three new players during the January transfer window – yet some members of the first-team squad are into the final year of their contracts.
Callum Styles, Leo Hjelde and Romaine Mundle all arrived on Wearside last month, while other players were allowed to leave on permanent or loan deals. The Black Cats have also been able to agree new deals with several of their first-team players over the last year.
Here’s a list of Sunderland’s senior players, including those out on loan, and when their deals are set to expire:

21. Nazariy Rusyn - Summer of 2027
Sunderland had been tracking the Ukrainian striker for some time, before reaching an agreement with Zorya Luhansk to sign the 25-year-old last year. Rusyn agreed a four-year contract at the Stadium of Light, with a club option of a further year. Photo: Frank Reid

22. Luis Hemir - Summer of 2028

24. Jenson Seelt - Summer of 2028
Seelt signed a five-year contract at Sunderland when he joined the club from Dutch side PSV Eindhoven for an undisclosed fee last year. The 21-year-old defender is unlikely to play again this year after suffering a serious knee injury. Photo: SAFC
