Sunderland are preparing for their Championship fixture against Coventry City this weekend – while both clubs are dealing with multiple injury issues.
The Black Cats recorded their first win of the season with a 2-1 victory over Rotherham last weekend, with Jobe Bellingham scoring his first senior goals.
Coventry have taken four points from their first three league games this season, following a 1-1 draw at Swansea last time out.
Here’s the latest injury news from both camps ahead of the fixture:

13. Jay Matete (Sunderland) - Out
Matete, 22, was forced off during Sunderland's win over North Carolina in a pre-season friendly at the end of July. It was then confirmed the midfielder would be sidelined for around 10 weeks after the issue required surgery. Photo: Chris Fryatt

14. Aji Alese (Sunderland) - Out
Despite playing in the second leg of the play-offs against Luton, Alese suffered a recurrence of the thigh injury which kept him sidelined last season and required surgery over the summer. It's unclear when the 22-year-old will be able to return. Photo: Frank Reid

15. Corry Evans (Sunderland) - Out
Sunderland’s captain is still recovering from an ACL injury he suffered in January. Mowbray has previously said the 33-year-old could return around the festive period, yet Evans has been making positive progress over the summer. Photo: Frank Reid

16. Adam Richardson (Sunderland) - Out
Richardson would have travelled with the senior squad on the US tour but suffered an injury setback just before the trip. The 19-year-old goalkeeper remains sidelined with a calf issue. Photo: FRANK REID
