Sunderland AFC transfer news: Latest on ex-Liverpool forward Bobby Duncan, Marc McNulty future and Luca Connell reports

Sunderland are expected to be busy today with a couple of new signings heading to Wearside, with Bristol City striker Antoine Semenyo set for a loan move to Wearside.

A couple of other players have also been linked including ex-Liverpool forward Bobby Duncan, who currently plays for Fiorentina, and young left-back Luca Connell.

There was a lot of talk about Duncan heading to Wearside yesterday before the transfer window closes at 11pm. As Phil Smith alluded to on Twitter last night, however, there weren't many positive noises at the SAFC end about any possible deal.

And The Athletic are also now reporting that the rumoured loan move for the ex-Liverpool Fiorentina striker won't happen.

Marc McNulty

McNulty is expected to leave Sunderland today - with those on the player's side confident he has played his last game on Wearside, reports Mark Donnelly.

The striker is being courted by a number of clubs but his preferred option, and the club at the front of the queue, is Hibernian.

McNulty enjoyed a successful loan spell at Easter Road last season and believes that returning to the SPFL will aid his chances of forcing his way back into the Scotland squad.

Luca Connell

Our Sunderland AFC writer Phil Smith said: "Luca Connell is a player Phil Parkinson likes a lot and has a big future in the game.

“So it's inevitable that Sunderland will be monitoring any developments on his future.

“But Neil Lennon has suggested that any club taking him would be on loan, and I don't think that suits either Sunderland or the player.
