Current director Juan Sartori and Louis-Dreyfus – the son of wealthy Marseille owner Robert – are the party in a period of exclusivity with Stewart Donald.

Hide AdDonald would retain a 15 per cent stake in the club as part of the deal, but it would be the group led by Sartori and Louis-Dreyfus who would hold the majority control of the club.
Reports in France revealed: “The purchase of Sunderland, should it go through, is part of a wider multi-club plan to build an empire of teams in England, France and Uruguay. At the moment, it is too early to tell the identity of the clubs which they intend to target in France.”
