It was a frustrating evening for the Black Cats and caretaker manager Andrew Taylor as Charles Vernam’s second-half strike looked to have proved the difference – before Max Power’s late leveller.
But did anyone impress in the draw, or was it low marks all around? Scroll down and click through the pages to see how Phil Smith rated the displays on show in the 1-1 stalemate:
5. Luke O'Nien
What looked like a nasty late injury was one of the big concerns of another disappointing night for Sunderland. Did as much as anyone to lift the tempo in the first half, but had little impact on the second. 5 Photo: FRANK REID 2020
6. Denver Hume
One of Sunderland’s few attacking outlets throughout the game. The quality of his delivery into the box was mixed but it was an excellent cross for Power to get his side level. 6 Photo: Frank Reid
7. Grant Leadbitter
Did his best to lift the tempo of the side, but had a quiet game in possession for the most part. Could have done better as Powell spun away for the opener, even if Matthews should have saved the effort. 5 Photo: FRANK REID 2020
8. Josh Scowen
Plenty of industry as ever, but not enough influence in the final third. Sunderland dominated possession but didn’t have enough urgency to turn it into clear chances. 5 Photo: Frank Reid
