Former Black Cats forward Chris Maguire scored a hat-trick and celebrated his opening goal in front of Sunderland boss Lee Johnson.
Carl Winchester was sent off for the hosts after conceding a penalty - which Maguire converted to make it 2-0.

50’ Stewart header blocked
Stewart’s back-post header is blocked behind for a corner after Gooch’s cross.
Bramall then went down and there was a lengthy delay for him to be treated, amid boos from the home fans.
46’ Patterson almost caught out
The Sunderland keeper came out to clear the ball on the left but then realised his options were limited.
Patterson eventually passed to Doyle who was dispossessed by Whittacker, who tried to shoot at an open goal.
Patterson managed to get back to gather the ball.
41’ Winchester booked
Now Winchester has gone into the booked for a foul on Maguire.
There was a sarcastic applause from Johnson following the earlier incident.
Eyoma has also been booked for Lincoln.
31’ Goal Lincoln (Maguire)
Lincoln lead after a quick free-kick, and that’s not all of it.
Maguire took the free-kick before Adelakun’s shot was blocked by Flanagan.
The ball bounced back to Maguire who fired it past Patterson.
After a muted celebration, the Lincoln forward then ran over to Johnson before the pair exchanged words.
The former Sunderland man is now being booed by the home fans.
The reaction appeared to be a response to Maguire’s earlier tackle when the Sunderland bench were appealing for a red card.
29’ Gooch pass goes astray
Another loose pass from Sunderland as Gooch kicks the ball out of play.
The hosts have just been a bit sloppy and ponderous in possession in the last few minutes.
Gooch apologises for the error.
23’ Bishop booked
Another booking for Lincoln after Diamond closed down Bishop before the visiting right-back tugged him back.
The referee waved play on, yet Diamond’s pass was intercepted.
Bishop was subsequently booked for the earlier foul. Good refereeing.
20’ Good tracking back from Ross Stewart
Sunderland were almost caught out as Lincoln left-back Bramall had space to run into.
Gooch was outnumbered on the flank but Stewart charged back to cover and make a tackle.
It received a round of applause from the home fans.
14’ Pritchard catches Maguire
This time Pritchard caught Magure with a late challenge, sparking an angry reaction from the Lincoln man.
No car was shown but Lincoln are starting to build some momentum, with Whittaker forcing Patterson into action.
The Sunderland keeper made a comfortable save after a shot from a tight angle.
10’ Maguire booked
The former Sunderland man is booked for a late lunge on Winchester.
That sparked a lively reaction from the Sunderland bench and Winchester is going to need some treatment.
He is back on his feet now.
