Sunderland were beaten 2-1 by Huddersfield at the Stadium of Light – but how did each player fare for Tony Mowbray’s side?
The Black Cats fell a goal down in the 28th minute after Tom Lees headed the ball back across goal and Michael Helik nodded the ball home from close range.
Sunderland drew level five minutes before half-time when Luke O’Nien equalised following a free-kick, yet Delano Burgzorg netted the winner midway through the second half.
Here’s how Phil Smith rated the Sunderland players at the Stadium of Light:

9. Abdoullah Ba - 4
Beale tried to rotate Ba and Rusyn to create space for the latter, meaning Ba was often playing essentially as a false nine. The tinkering doesn’t seem to be doing him many favours and he really struggled to impact the game, also picking up a cheap yellow card for kicking the ball away. 4 Photo: Frank Reid

10. Jack Clarke - 5
A rare off night for the winger. Matty Pearson defended exceptionally well in their 1-v-1 situations, and as a result didn’t create much for himself or others. When the opposition defends against him well, the team looks one-dimensional. 5 Photo: Frank Reid

11. Nazariy Rusyn - 5
Another big output in terms of his running and pressing but had next to no impact in the final third. Tried to drive in from the right at times but didn’t really threaten the Huddersfield back line. 5 Photo: Frank Reid

12. Patrick Roberts (sub) - 6
Looked really dangerous and was the team’s best attacking outlet, before hobbling off the pitch with another injury. A huge blow for Sunderland. 6 Photo: Frank Reid
