Sunderland were beaten 2-1 by Huddersfield at the Stadium of Light – but how did each player fare for Tony Mowbray’s side?
The Black Cats fell a goal down in the 28th minute after Tom Lees headed the ball back across goal and Michael Helik nodded the ball home from close range.
Sunderland drew level five minutes before half-time when Luke O’Nien equalised following a free-kick, yet Delano Burgzorg netted the winner midway through the second half.
Here’s how Phil Smith rated the Sunderland players at the Stadium of Light:

5. Leo Hjelde - 5
Looks very at ease at Championship level in the main but left his captain frustrated when he forced him into the foul that led to Huddersfield’s opener. Got away with a penalty appeal in the second half before being withdrawn. 5 Photo: FRANK REID

6. Dan Neil - 6
Was one of Sunderland’s better performers in a very poor first half, at least playing with a level of intensity. Not as impactful in possession as he had been at the weekend, however. 6 Photo: Frank Reid

7. Pierre Ekwah - 5
Got into good areas once or twice but didn’t have the impact he managed in the last few games at times. 5 Photo: Frank Reid

8. Jobe Bellingham - 6
Didn’t have much of an impact in the final third but was fairly strong out of possession, making some big challenges to start breaks and clearing one goal bound header off the line. 6 Photo: Frank Reid
