It has been an excellent start to the campaign for Sunderland and Regis Le Bris, with the Black Cats currently sitting top of the Championship in the second international break.
With nine games played, it’s the first chance to pause and reflect on the campaign so far. Sunderland have impressed fans and neutrals alike, but there’s still more to come from many in the squad. Here, Phil Smith gives his ratings so far... Only players currently in the senior squad who have made a competitive appearance so far this season are included.
25. Tommy Watson
A breakthrough campaign for the youngster. After a brief period of adjustment was able to carry his stunning U21s form into the senior environment. Injury slowed his progress but will be back from this weekend. 7 | Ian Horrocks
26. Nectar Triantis
Triantis only had a couple of early-season cameos for Sunderland but is having a brilliant loan at Hibs, where his performances in midfield are drawing rave reviews on a weekly basis. Looks to have taken a big step forward as a senior player. 7 Photo: Frank Reid
27. Aaron Connolly
Isidor and Mayenda's form meant that Connolly wasn't able to break into the team on a regular basis but it was a hugely positive move in rebuilding his career and allowed him to go and make a good impact at Millwall. 6 | Stu Forster/Getty Images Photo: Stu Forster/Getty Images
