The Black Cats looked to be beaten by Barrie McKay’s early strike, but saw their pressure pay off in the dying seconds as Max Power thumped home to seal a point.
So how did their players rate in the clash? Scroll down and click through the pages to see how our chief Sunderland AFC writer, Phil Smith, rated the individual display on show from Phil Parkinson’s side:
5. Luke O'Nien
Typically energetic but not able to have quite the same impact in the final third. Sunderland struggled down his flank defensively early on but they did improve as the game developed. 5 Photo: FRANK REID 2019
6. Denver Hume
Struggled to make his usual impact in the final third and was substituted in the second half, though he had been unfortunate moments before when a terrific turn and cross didn’t find a team-mate. He and Gooch had been off the pace otherwise down the left flank. 5 Photo: FRANK REID
7. George Dobson
Has been terrific of late but just dropped below those standards in a first half where he looked leggy. Improved in the opening stages after the break but it was no surprise to see him brought off as Parkinson shuffled his pack. 5 Photo: Frank Reid
8. Max Power
Laboured in the first half with Fleetwood maintaining a very good shape in midfield. Stepped up after the break and got on top of the play more. It had not been his best night but he stepped up to make a crucial late intervention. 6 Photo: FRANK REID 2020
