As reported by the Echo, the two clubs have been in talks for a number of weeks.

The deal is understood to comprise an initial fee and a number of performance related add-ons.

He currently has one year left on his first professional contract and despite a lack of senior action this season, the youth international remains a prodigious talent and one of the club's biggest assets.

Mumba made his debut in May 2018, when he replaced John O'Shea in the final match of the Championship season against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

News earlier this month of his expected departure sparked fresh anger among the club’s fanbase, with the club facing a third season in League One after failing again to win promotion.

The season was ended with Sunderland outside the play-off places. Owner Stewart Donald is looking to sell Sunderland AFC and fans are hoping for positive news on that front soon.
