The Black Cats then managed to equalise nine minutes from time when Alex Pritchard’s free-kick was converted by Dennis Cirkin.

2’ How Sunderland have started

It’s a raucous atmosphere here at The Den and the home fans were calling for a penalty after Alese collided with Bradshaw inside the box.

Moments later Bennett was found on the edge of the box but sent a low effort wide.

8’ Honeyman free-kick punched away

Another chance for the hosts as Honeyman curls a free-kick into the box which Patterson punches away.

Still goalless.

14’ Better from Sunderland

That was better build-up play from Sunderland as Hume made an under-lapping run, allowing Roberts to play a reverse pass to the edge of Millwall’s box.

Hume then tried to set up Gelhardt but the forward couldn’t quite get the ball under control.

20’ Sunderland seeing more of the ball

Sunderland are seeing more of the ball now and starting to draw fouls from their opponents.

Gelhardt has dropped deeper a couple of times and won a free-kick inside the Millwall half when he was fouled by Cooper.

22’ Important block from Alese

Alese produces an important block to stop Flemming’s shot from the edge of the box.

Sunderland managed to deal with the following corner.
