Kyril Louis-Dreyfus and Florent Ghisolfi send classy Régis Le Bris message after Sunderland milestone
Kyril Louis-Dreyfus and Florent Ghisolfi paid tribute to Régis Le Bris as he reached 100 games in charge of Sunderland
Kyril Louis-Dreyfus and Florent Ghisolfi paid tribute to Régis Le Bris as Sunderland’s head coach reached 100 matches in charge against Manchester City.
The Frenchman marked the milestone during Sunday’s extraordinary 5-3 defeat at the Etihad Stadium, where Brian Brobbey scored a hat-trick. Despite the result, Sunderland took the opportunity to recognise a tenure that has already delivered promotion, European qualification and two derby victories over Newcastle United. A photograph shared alongside the tribute showed Le Bris with Louis-Dreyfus and Ghisolfi at the Etihad, holding a framed Sunderland shirt bearing his name and the number 100.

The post read: “A message from Kyril Louis-Dreyfus and Florent Ghisolfi to Régis Le Bris on the day he reached the milestone of 100 matches in charge of Sunderland AFC…“Some moments deserve to be recognised beyond the result. 100 games in charge of Sunderland AFC. An important moment for us to recognise Régis, thank him for his commitment, his work every day and everything we are building together. Congratulations, Régis. More to come.”
Le Bris has brought continuity to a position that changed hands repeatedly before his arrival. Since Peter Reid’s departure in 2002, only Mick McCarthy and Roy Keane had reached a century of Sunderland matches before him. His landmark appearance came four days after another significant occasion, with Sunderland beating AZ Alkmaar in their first European fixture for 53 years.
Sunday offered further evidence of the attacking quality Le Bris has helped develop, although defensive mistakes proved costly against City. Sunderland twice equalised and later reduced the deficit to 4-3, with Brobbey’s finishing keeping them in contention before Erling Haaland scored the hosts’ fifth to settle a remarkable contest.
