Northern League: Seaham Red Star confident ahead of Tow Law Town test
There is a busy weekend ahead in Northern League Division Two.
Seaham Red Star are full of confidence ahead of Saturday’s visit to promotion contendersTow Law Town after returning to winning ways with a 3-0 home win against Durham United last weekend.
Mark Collingwood’s men have suffered from a run of inconsistent form over the last month after losing four and winning three of their last seven league fixtures. However, there was a major positive when Thomas Lawson, Reece Blakey and Jack Leonard all found the net in last Saturday’s win against a youthful Durham United side that took Red Star to within three points of the top eight.

A significant test lies in wait at Ironworks Road as Collingwood and his players take on a home side that are looking for a third consecutive win on their own patch and one that could take them to within six points of current Division Two leaders Billingham Town.
A number of players within the Lawyers have played at higher levels in recent seasons and the club has aspirations of returning to the Northern League’s top tier after they were relegated in April last year. An unbeaten run that now consists of six games has thrust them into the play-off places and they lead the chasing pack behind top three Billingham, Jarrow and Boldon CA.
Speaking ahead of the trip to Ironworks Road, Red Star assistant manager Michael Johnson told The Echo: “We know this will be a tough game because Tow Law are a very good side and it’s always a difficult place to go! We have been inconsistent so far this season and we need to go on a run where we pick up points and as a group, we are confident we can do that! We did well last week and we have to take that into this week as well to keep the momentum going.”
