Northern League: Boldon boss delighted with win against Seaton Carew
There were plenty of goals in Northern League Division Two this weekend.
Boldon CA joint-manager Chris Spence believes his side secured a ‘massive three points’ when they were forced to battle for a home win against Northern League Division Two rivals Seaton Carew.

The step six newcomers and reigning Wearside League champions grabbed the lead on two occasions during the first-half as Craig Linsel and Kingston Butler found the net either side of an equaliser from Boldon winger James Fairley. However, the scores were level when the half-time whistle was blown as former Dunston UTS forward Liam Thear beat two visiting defenders before grabbing his side’s second equaliser of the day.

That set the foundations for a much-improved second-half display - although Boldon had to wait to secure their win as Fairley doubled his tally to put his side in front for the first time with seven minutes remaining. There was still time for one more goal and it came deep in injury-time as Callum Hughes ended any doubt over the destination of the points when he tapped home from close range after Robbie Gateshill had been denied by visitors keeper Matthew Wilkinson.
Spence was proud of the ‘huge mentality’ shown by his players as they twice came from behind to claim a win that has ensured they are now just three points behind Division Two leaders Billingham Town.
Speaking after the game, the Boldon joint-manager told The Echo: “It was a huge mentality from the lads to come from behind because we gave away two poor goals to be honest with you. But credit to the lads because we reacted really well to get it level just before the break. Then in the second half we really kicked on and showed what we’re about. It was vital to build on last week and to come away with another three points is massive for us.”
