Thousands of people turned out in force to enjoy Seaham Carnival ten years ago today, but this wasn’t just a festival of fairground rides.
A giant outdoor screen was set up so that people could engross themselves in a great selection of hit films.
The event on Terrace Green began with Footloose, followed by Billy Elliot. Then there was Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip, before Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

The features were chosen by residents in the run-up to the event, which was run by Seaham Town Council.
A host of bands were also lined up to play over the course of the weekend, including headliners Shine On, a Pink Floyd tribute act.

he event also saw children enjoy free rides on Church Street, along with a free climbing wall and a penalty shootout challenge.
Mum Joanne Hubbard, 38, a support worker from Easington, was at the event with her friends and family. She said: "We go every year and the kids love coming here for the rides and crafts.
Deputy town clerk Paul Fletcher said: "We are delighted with the great family atmosphere at the carnival and everyone has been out enjoying the sunshine and all the different entertainment."
