Sunderland set for soaring temperatures higher than Spain this week
Warmer weather is expected to hit Wearside this week with forecasters predicting temperatures of 14C – hotter than Madrid and Barcelona.
The Met Office have forecast unseasonably warm weather across Sunderland this week with highs of 14C and great spells to soak up that vitamin D.
Forecasters have predicted warmer temperatures and sunny outbreaks from Wednesday, February 24 which will be hotter than Madrid with highs of 10C.

The Met Office is predicting a rainy start to the week with some outbreaks of heavy rain and partly cloudy skies on Monday, February 22.
Conditions are expected to become more mild into the afternoon as winds remain light with highs of 10C.
The Met Office said: “Monday will likely be similar to Sunday with some outbreaks of rain at times and partly cloudy skies, especially later on. Staying on the mild side as winds remain light. Maximum temperature 10 degrees.”
Cloudy conditions are predicted on Tuesday with stronger winds expected and a maximum temperature of 11C.
Wednesday is forecast to be the warmest day of the week with temperatures jumping to 14C but conditions remaining cloudy and mild.
Forecasters say temperatures will drop back to 11C on Thursday but conditions will be clear with sunny outbreaks.
Friday is set to be clear with sunny spells and highs of 11C before changing to cloudy conditions by early evening.
In a statement online, the Met Office said: “During the last few days of February and the first week of March, many areas of the UK are likely to see more settled conditions.”
