Met Office issues snow weather warning for weekend - This is when snow is forecast for Sunderland

The Met Office has issued a weather warning for snow and ice over the weekend.

Two yellow weather warning have been issued for snow and ice in Sunderland from Saturday, February 6, at 12pm to just before midnight on Monday, February 8.

Forecasters predict that snow showers in the far north east of the UK will spread southwards throughout the weekend and into early next week.

The Met Office has warned that there is a small chance of travel delays on roads and both vehicles and passengers could become stranded.

The conditions could also cause delays or cancellations to rail and air travel.

There is a small chance that power cuts will occur and other services, such as mobile phone coverage, may be affected and rural communities could become cut off.

The current forecast predicts it is not due to snow/sleet in Sunderland until early on Sunday morning (February 7).
