“There is a slight chance of power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and businesses.

“There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings.

“There is also a small chance of fast flowing or deep floodwater.”

There is also the potential for disruption to travel.

A Met Office spokesperson added: “Bus and train services will probably be affected with journey times taking longer

“Spray and flooding on roads will also probably make journey times longer, possibly resulting in a few road closures.”

The current Met Office forecast for Sunderland between 4pm and midnight shows the probability of rain varying between 30% and 70%.

Just last week (October 9) heavy rain brought flooding to parts of Sunderland including Ryhope, Ashbrooke and Grangetown.
