TRAFFIC LATEST: Emergency services attend three vehicle collision on A19 northbound near Sunderland

Emergency services have been dealing with a three vehicle collision on the A19 near Sunderland.

The incident occurred this morning (March 1) and drivers are being warned to approach the area with care.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “Shortly after 8.35am today (Tuesday March 1) we received a report of a three-vehicle collision on the A19 northbound near the A1231 junction in Sunderland.

“Emergency Services are at the scene.”

The North East Ambulance Service were also called to the collision but no one required hospital treatment.

A statement from an NEAS spokesperson said: “We were called to reports of a road traffic collision on the junction of the A1231 and A19 in Sunderland at 8.39am this morning. Thankfully, those involved only had minor injuries and we were stood down by the police as our services were not required."

A social media post from North East Live Traffic has since posted: “A19 northbound, drivers are urged to be cautious on the approach to the A1231 as there are vehicles awaiting recovery from an earlier collision in the cross hatching near the A1231 slip road.”
