Broken down car causes delays for A19 drivers in Sunderland

A broken down car caused hold-ups for drivers in Sunderland today.

The vehicle blocked lane one of the southbound A19 around 7.45am this morning, Thursday, October 22, and caused major tailbacks.

Traffic was queuing from the A183 Chester Road junction back as far as the A1231 Hylton Bridge.

The road fully reopened shortly after 8am.

The breakdown caused delays between the Chester Road and Wessington Way junctions
