The incident is reported to have happened in the early hours of this morning (September 11)
Nissan workers and other motorists are being advised to avoid Nissan Way after an overnight crash.
An early morning post from the AA’s traffic news said: “Road closed due to a crash on Nissan Way northbound from the A1231 Sunderland Highway Nissan roundabout to Cherry Blossom Way.
“A detour is in place via the A1290. All traffic for the Nissan car factory will need to use the A1290 for access.”
We have contacted Northumbria Police and the North East Ambulance Service and are awaiting further details as to what has taken place.
