The Spanish midfielder recently distanced himself from a move to the Premier League but Spanish website El Desmarque claim the Black Cats remain keen on bringing him to the Stadium of Light.

Sunderland's number one midfield priority is to re-sign Yann M'Vila on a permanent basis.
