Shops offer great value

I needed a microwave oven and bought one at the British Heart Foundation on Fawcett Street before Christmas for £15.

It is in excellent condition and labels prove it has been checked and safe to use, and my bill provides a six-month warranty.

I am delighted with my purchase and wish to praise charity shops for doing good in three different ways. They raise money for charity; they provide the customer with a bargain; and they recycle goods.

I was pleased with the fresh vegetables I bought at the farmers’ market held in Market Square before Christmas and plan to buy more when the farmers’ market returns on Friday, January 22.
