Shocking photos show the fire damage at derelict building near the Stadium of Light
Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service (TWFRS) have released photos of a derelict building on Millennium Way in Sunderland which has been “severely damaged” following a blaze.
The fire service have said that the damage has been caused by both the fire and then smoke.

Hide AdTwo fire crews from Sunderland Central and one from Marley Park were called to the derelict building near the Stadium of Light at around 4.20pm on Monday, November 30.
It took almost an hour for firefighters to bring the blaze under control, with crews having to use two water jets, along with breathing apparatus to get inside the building, a triple extension ladder and a thermal image camera to aid them.
TWFRS have revealed that the cause of the fire is currently unknown at this time and it is understood that no one was injured during the incident.
A TWFRS spokesperson said: “The fire was a derelict single storey building. Two crews from Sunderland Central and one from Marley Park attended.
“The building was 100% severely damaged by fire and smoke.
