Christ Church will hold its AGM tonight in the Lady Chapel at 7pm.

Students at Dawdon Karate Club, which meets in Dawdon Community Centre, have been training really hard for their biggest competition of the year. All the students pictured got trophies and put in a great performance on the day. Sessions are held on Tuesdays from 5.15pm-6.15pm and Fridays from 5pm-6pm. St John the Evangelist and All Saints’ will hold two further Lent course evenings at 7pm with the meeting on March 10 being held at 2 Dalden Grove and the following week, March 17, at 15 Fox Street.

The AGM of St John the Evangelist will be held on Friday.

Every Friday afternoon during Lent there will be a service of Stations of the Cross at All Saints’ Church, Deneside, at 3pm. All are welcome.

On Friday, from 6pm-9pm, Seaham and District Cubs and Scouts will meet for their annual five-a-side football competition, which will take place in Westlea School Hall. Permission forms may be brought on the evening. Please do not wear league football strips. Usual subscriptions. Sorry there is no space available for parental participation. For further information, contact your troop leaders.

On Saturday, there will be the ever popular and friendly coffee morning and bake sale, beginning at 10.30am in Seaham Methodist Church, Tempest Road. Proceeds for church funds. Entrance £1 includes a cup of tea or coffee.

Bishop Mark, Bishop of Jarrow, is holding during the season of Lent, a four-week course each Sunday at different venue throughout the Easington Deanery on Prayer – Learning to swim in the sea of God’s Love.’The next session will be held on March 13 at 7.30pm on Blackhall Church Hall.

A Medieval Evening of fun and laughter is being organised by vicar Paul and Catharine in Christ Church Hall on Saturday, March 19. Tickets are £5. Add your names to the lists which are in St Andrew’s and Christ Church if you intend to attend. Numbers required for catering purposes. Costume is optional.
