Recruitment day for Sunderland's new Varo Lounge as it prepares to open
The new addition will transform the remaining empty unit in Keel Square.
With Varo Lounge set to complete the hospitality units beneath Holiday Inn when it opens this autumn, a recruitment day will be held for a number of roles.

Earlier this summer, it was revealed that the national Loungers hospitality group is transforming the corner unit in Keel Square into an informal all day cafe / bar, which will be open seven days a week.
Loungers has three brands: Lounge, Cosy Club and Brightside, with the Sunderland site being part of the Lounge group as Varo Lounge when it opens on October 28.
Ahead of the opening, a recruitment day is being held at The Grand Hotel in Seaburn on Tuesday, September 8.
There will be sessions at 9am, 11am, 1pm and 3pm. Roles include: chefs, sous chefs, junior sous chefs, head chefs, kitchen porters/ assistants, and bar and waiting team members.
Anyone with questions is asked to contact Varo Lounge on their social media platforms or fill in the contact form via https://thelounges.co.uk/
On what Sunderland can expect from the new addition, the brand says: “Our informal cafe-bar will be open all day, every day for long, lazy breakfasts, sociable brunches and lunches and relaxed dinners and drinks.”
The site will have vegan and gluten-free options and will be dog-friendly.
There will also be a strong community offering, with a Coffee & Crime Book Club, Kids Breakfast Club and Teenage Kicks menu.
Once open, Varo Lounge completes the development beneath the Holiday Inn joining The Botanist, Keel Tavern and Flower Cafe.
Another new addition heading to Keel Square is Blacks Corner, which will open on September 12 on the ground floor of Culture House, featuring the only cheese and charcuterie belt outside of London.
