The Euro 2020 competition has had to take place a year later than originally planned, but it’s still set to be a hotly-fought contest with 24 teams playing across 51 matches in 11 cities around Europe between June 11 and July 11.

England’s first match is set to take place on Sunday, June 13 against Croatia and psychic pony Yellow predicts the match will finish with a draw.

The pony, who lives at Penshaw Equestrian Centre was released from his stable and asked to choose between one of three bowls of horse feed.

Hidden from his view on the opposite side of the bowls were labels with the words "win", "lose" or “draw”.

Yellow’s prediction may give England a chance of finally reaching the final of the European Championships after their best performances have only made the semi-final with appearances in 1968 and 1996.

Staff member Georgia Shaw, 23, who learnt to ride a horse with Yellow said: “He’s always the first to know when dinner is coming and he knows where the treats are, so I have no doubt that his predictions are correct.

"He was right last time about the Sunderland final so I’m sure he’ll be right again!”

Yellow, who is 20-years-old is merely the latest in a distinguished line of animal pundits to be consulted by the Echo before important football games.
